Mahmood Salehi, the President of the Bakers' Union in the city of Saghez, was arrested a few weeks ago by the security forces of the Iranian regime. This is the fifth time that this militant worker has been imprisoned simply for his work in trying to organise workers and defend their rights. The appalling prison conditions have now made him seriously ill.
Amal-e Kargari's English-language network will be publicising the case of this militant worker among the progressive and revolutionary labour organisations internationally. We demand that the Islamic regime releases him immediately and that all charges against him are dropped.
The Mahmood Salehi defence campaign was initiated by the International Federation of Iranian Refugees (IFIR) two weeks ago and has been successful in receiving support from many trade unions.
